Maui Marathon Victory!

Matt won the Maui Marathon this weekend! Amazing for so many reasons. For one thing, he had just won a 5K race the day before. For another, he had trained for and planned to enter the half marathon until about 5pm the evening before when he switched to the full after learning a Beijing Olympian was planning to run the half. Since he was hoping for some sweet prize money, he decided to try for the full, and won $500! Plus $250 for the 5K! Great job Matt!

I think Nate somehow knows what happened, because when we got home last night, all he wanted to do was run sprints across the living room. We say, "ready, set, go!" and he takes off across the room, then we erupt in wild cheering when he gets to the other end. He turns around, and waits for the "go!" again for his next pass. I think he might be just like his daddy.

September So Far

Matt's race prep for the Honolulu Marathon is ramping up quickly. Last Sunday he ran an incredible 20K out at Barber's Point in 1:07:26. A new PR! He and Todd ran the whole way way out in front of everyone else. Todd managed to pull ahead right at the end and won by 8 seconds. Matt had an amazing race and he couldn't have run such a fast time unless he was being pushed the whole way by Todd. The third place runner didn't come in until almost 2.5 minutes later! Here's the start of the race (Matt in maroon, Todd in green):
Nate was a wonderful spectator, until a massive throw-up about an hour into the race, which meant unfortunately we missed the finish due to clean-up.
Stripped down post-puke, he still has a smile on his face! How can you not just love this kid to death?
Matt shrunk while sitting on a folding chair on a visit to Sam's Club. Nate's got a bunch of new teeth coming in, so he has had his finger in his mouth a lot.
Nate playing with his friends Aeryn and Josiah on a recent playdate.
Nate and mommy are super cool in our shades at a recent afternoon at the beach.
When Mommy wan't feeling good, Daddy and Nate spent an evening out so Mommy could have some quiet time. When they came back, Nate walked up to the door twirling this beautiful rose for Mommy. What a blessed woman I am to have such an amazing family!
